UN-Habitat in Palestine’s ‘Land Issues in the West Bank’ newsletters

Ramallah, Palestine, 2 May - UN-Habitat, in collaboration with the Land and Water Settlement Commission (LWSC), has released the latest edition of the newsletter under the framework of the EU-funded project "Achieving Planning and Land Rights in Area C, West Bank – Palestine (2019-2024)." This bilingual issue, available in both Arabic and English, offers an in-depth analysis of the gender dynamics of land ownership in the West Bank. It examines the spatial, socio-economic, and geopolitical factors that influence women's property rights within the West Bank territory. A promotional video is now available. Focusing on Area C, which constitutes 60 per cent of the West Bank's territory and is home to over 300,000 Palestinians, this edition addresses the critical land issues prevalent in the West Bank territory. Despite Israel's control over security and development functions, including planning and land management, the newsletter sheds light on the progress made toward fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth. It highlights efforts to enhance the socio-economic conditions of Palestinian communities. Since its first publication in December 2019, the newsletter has become a vital resource for stakeholders and policymakers. It continues to track and analyze the evolving challenges and developments concerning housing, land, and property rights in the West Bank, including Area C.
